Let me preface this by saying that I love that my career allows me to work from home, and care for my two small children. I am so thankful to be able to not have them in pre-school. That being said, being a work from home mom is isolating. Even though I am part of local mom’s groups, it’s really hard for us to get out to playdates because of my work schedule. But when we do get out for playdates, I still feel a bit like an outsider because I own my own business, I work from home, I am not the typical stay at home mom. So, it’s hard for me to relate/connect with other stay at home moms (not a complaint, just an observation).
Where am I going with this?
When you become a mom, you see it all over: “Find your village.” When I was pregnant with my oldest son, we relocated to another state. We moved away from everyone we knew. From my village. This brings us back to working from home being super isolating. Meeting new people and making new friends in a new city, in another state is super difficult when you work 40 hours per week inside your house.
Now let’s fast forward 3 years: Someone that my husband worked with, who knew that I had been using Beachbody programs, reached out to me with the opportunity to become a Beachbody coach. I was already working full-time and taking care of my kids and house. I didn’t think that I had time to dedicate to it. So, I put it off. And I think that she asked me 3 times before I was ready to take that leap and commit to it. I knew that what I wanted out of coaching was the discount on Shakeology, I have been drinking it for years and LOVE it. What I didn’t expect to find is the coaching community, this village that I have found. A lot of these women (and men) are like me! They are parents, a lot of them are working from home and raising a family! They support me, they give me that boost that I need. I love sharing in their successes and helping them when they need it. I love that they help me when I need it. We may be spread all across the country, but we are there for each other. It’s truly what I needed. I found my village through Beachbody!
